Mrs. Louise Davis JoyceMrs. Louise Davis Joyce, 91, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at her residence.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, at Centre Friends Meeting. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Rusty Parsons officiating. Mrs. Joyce was born on July 6, 1919 in Guilford County. She retired from Sears Roebuck Mail Order with 32 years of service. Louise was very active in the Centre Grange for 30 years, and was an active member in the Homemakers Club. She was very involved in community service and helped establish and manage Centre Community Center. Louise was a wonderful wife of 67 years to the late Howard Wilson Joyce. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, Edgar Earnest and Viola Henderson Davis; brothers, Harold Lee Davis, Jack Maurice Davis and Herbert Clayton Davis. She was a loving mother to daughters, Louise Brown of Texas, Edna Lee and husband Dan, Sharon Bass and husband Bob, both of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jim Sykes, Jr. Casey Brown, Kelly Boone, Stephen Bass; great-grandchildren, Nikkie Sykes, Kadie Sykes, Cameron Brown, Emily Boone and the upcoming birth of a great-grandson, as well as numerous extended family members. The family will receive friends on Monday following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405. |
