Margaret Arney SherronMargaret Arney Sherron, 85, went home to be with Jesus Thursday evening July 15th at Morehead Hospital in Eden.A 2:00 PM Funeral service will be held Sunday July 18th at Good News Baptist Church with Rev. David Fulp officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. A Burke County native, Margaret was born August 4, 1924 the daughter of the late Roy Jones Arney and Christinia Ruth Cowan Arney. Margaret grew up in Burke County an attended elementary and high school in Morganton. She was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory. Margaret was a faithful member of Good News Baptist Church and sang in the Church Choir for many years. Mrs. Sherron taught school in Mayodan for over 33 years. Hundreds of boys and girls lives were positively impacted through her teaching. She dearly loved and cared for all of her students. Margaret was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 5684. Margaret was a Christian lady. The life that she lived on this earth touched countless lives for the cause of Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years William “Bill” David Sherron, Jr. and sister, Ruth Elizabeth Arney Horne. She is survived by her friend and caregiver, Mary Lee Bullins Joyce of Trinity, whom Margaret loved like a daughter and also many nieces and nephews.
