Mrs. Dorothy Hill SeabrookeDOROTHY HILL SEABROOKE (Dot) passed away at Baptist Hospital on July 23rd, 2010. A memorial service will be held at River Landing at Sandy Ridge on July 29 at 3 PM. Dot was born on October 6, 1921 in New York City. She grew up in Southbridge, Massachusetts, then Brooklyn, New York. She was in the class of 1943 at Brown University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Nursing. She married her college sweetheart John Seabrooke the same year. While John was in the service overseas, she took a post graduate course in Operating Room Technique at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC and worked there until he returned from the service in 1946. Later she and her husband moved to Huntington, N.Y., where they raised two children. She became a school nurse teacher in the local school district. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Sanibel, Florida, then to Greensboro to be near their daughter and grandchildren. Dot enjoyed fishing and boating on Long Island and in Florida, golfing, painting, traveling, and spending time with family. She volunteered at Wesley Long Hospital for more than 12 years. She is survived by her loving husband John; two devoted children Richard and Deborah; son-in-law Charlie Headington; three grandchildren Marianne and George Huger and Betsy Summers; and, her sister Shirley Vernon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, River Landing Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Forbis & Dick Guilford is assisting the Seabrooke family.
