Mrs. Irene Roach Stanley Mrs. Irene Roach Stanley, 84, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Universal Healthcare in Concord. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park with Rev. Karen Jenkins officiating. Mrs. Stanley was born on May 12, 1926 in Bedford County, Virginia. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Irene loved the outdoors, gardening and cooking for her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by many. She was preceded in death by husband, Andrew Jackson Stanley; parents, George and Mattie Richardson Roach; son, Carroll Junior Emerson; daughter, Brenda Marie Williams; brothers, Dave Roach, and June Roach. Survivors include daughters, Ira Mae Joyce Overstreet and husband Elton, of Hurt, VA, Betty Lou Johnson and husband Dennis of Jamestown, NC; Patsy Jean Wilson and husband Jimmy of Pleasant Garden, Virgie Gaynell Shelton and husband Denny of Concord, Ruby Ann Rosenthal and husband Norman of Randleman, Linda Sue Strickler and husband Dale of Irving, Texas, Deborah Emerson Welch of Julian; sister, Dennie Ann Blankenship of Gretna, VA; daughter-in-law, Carlene Emerson of Asheboro; twenty grandchildren, and thirty-nine great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
